lead tolerance of populus nigra in symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in relation to physiological parameters
Authors
abstract
with the aim to examine lead tolerance of populus nigra (clone 62/154) in symbiosis with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, a greenhouse experiment was carried out in a factorial randomized complete scheme with two factors 1) fungal inoculation in 4 levels (control, inoculation with glomus mosseae, inoculation with g. intraradices and inoculation with g. mosseae + g. intraradices) and 2) lead in 4 levels (0, 100, 500 and 1000 mg kg-1 soil). mycorrhizal colonization and physiological parameters of plants were measured at the end of growth season. results showed that at all pb levels, the percentage of root mycorrhizal colonization in fungal treatments was significantly higher than that in control treatment (without fungal inoculation), however without significant differences between 3 fungal treatments. pb treatments had no significant effect on root mycorrhizal colonization of p. nigra plants. also, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration, intercellular co2 concentration and water use efficiency of p. nigra plants had no significant inhibitory effects versus the control found under pb and fungal treatments or their interaction. the results of present study demonstrated that fungal treatments had no significant effects on physiological parameters and pb tolerance of p. nigra plants. while, in relation to mycorrhizal colonization and physiological parameters, p. nigra clone 62/154 showed a good tolerance to pb stress. so, in further investigations of phytoremediation of lead-contaminated soils, this clone can be considered as a proposed species.

Influence of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi symbiosis with different pistachio rootstocks in salinity stress condition
This study was designed to investigate the effect of Mycorrhiza symbiosis on some orphophysiological characteristics of four different pistachio rootstocks under salinity stress. This research was conducted in a completely randomized design with factorial arrangement with three factors. The factors were included rootstocks at four levels (Badami-e Riz Zarand, Qazvini, Sarakhs, and UCB1), mycorr...
full textEnhancing Tolerance to Salinity Stress in Poncirus trifoliata L. Using Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi
Citrus fruits are susceptible to salinity. In the present study, the reaction of trifoliate sour orange (Poncirus trifoliata L.) to the salinity stress at the presence of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) was investigated. Forty-day-old seedlings were inoculated with three species of AMF in combinations including Glomus mosseae + Glomus intraradices, Glomus mosseae + Glomus hoi, Glomus intrar...

For identification of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), in the late springs of 2004 and 2005, wheat fields in the GolestanProvince (northeast of Iran near the Caspian sea) surveyed and root cores sampled. After extraction of AMF spores and staining roots, 19 AMF identified as follow: Entrophospora infrequens, Glomus caledonium, G. clarum, G. constrictum, G. deserticola, G. eburneum, G. etuni...
full textSymbiosis relationship between some arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and Salsola laricina and its effect on improving plant growth parameters
The aim of this study was to examine the symbiosis relationshipbetween some arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and Salsola laricina (Chenopodiaceae), a non-mycotrophic plant speciesand its effect on improving plant growth parameters. Initially, the development of AMF density was monitored through two parameters including evaluation of mycorrhizal colonization of plant roots and density measurem...

arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (amf) play an important role in promotion of plant growth as well as increasing plant tolerant to abiotic and biotic stresses. because of this, special attention was paid to amf in sustainable agriculture. biotic and abiotic factors can affect the development of the mycorrhizal relationship. to evaluate the effect of some bio-ecological parameters, on activity of am...
full textPlant Cell Responses to Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi: Getting to the Roots of the Symbiosis.
INTRODUCTION Since their colonization of terrestrial ecosystems, plants have developed numerous strategies to cope with the diverse bi-otic and abiotic challenges that are a consequence of their sedentary life cycle. One of the most successful strategies is the ability of root systems to establish mutualistic and reciprocally beneficial symbiotic relationships with microorganisms. Mycorrhizas, ...
